KMC Controls has won two awards for publication excellence in the APEX 2009 competition. APEX 2009—the 21st Annual Awards for Publication Excellence—is an international competition for recognizing outstanding publications among categories such as newsletters, magazines, brochures, and web sites. According to the APEX 2009 judges, “The awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.” There were nearly 3,785 total entries in 11 main categories in 2009.
The Green Building and Controls Glossary (SB-046, Rev. B) won in the "One-of-a-Kind Scientific & Environmental Publications" category. The pocket-sized 174-page glossary lists over 1,100 definitions and cross-references relating to the HVAC and building industry. It also includes over 100 building controls acronyms and abbreviations in a separate list. This glossary of "green" terms reflects KMC's commitment to "building your sustainable comfort zone." A paper version can be ordered and/or an Acrobat PDF version can be downloaded from the KMC web site.
The KMC web site also garnered an award in the "Web & Intranet Site Content & Writing" category. It had previously won a more general APEX award in 2006. Since that time, major enhancements have included on-line ordering of products and accessories, the addition of product selection tools, expanded product search capabilities, easier navigation, and new content. The site receives more than 5000 unique visitors each month.
